01. The Visit Schedule

The visit team's schedule for the three days will be available when you arrive at the visit site. It typically looks something like the following:

  • Day 1:
    • Introduction by the district leaders including a review of the district's essential questions
    • Review of documentary evidence in indicator teams punctuated by "pulse-taking conversations" facilitated by the team co-leaders throughout the morning
    • A working lunch with interview teams to prepare for afternoon interviews
    • Interview teams meet with teachers, students, parents, and administrators
    • End-of-afternoon wrap-up: Debrief of the interviews, and a second look at the documentary evidence

  • Day 2:
    • A third opportunity to review documentary evidence followed by another "pulse-taking" with the team as a whole
    • Interview teams meet with teachers, students, parents, and administrators
    • Some team members shadow students
    • A working lunch debriefing the morning interviews and preparing for the consultancy
    • Consultancy protocol, 1:00pm to 2:00pm: a structured conversation between district and team
    • Indicator teams prepare the first draft of their indicator reports
    • If time allows, the co-leaders may begn the scoring process
    • At 5:30 p.m. the team adjourns to a local restaurant for an informal dinner

  • Day 3:
    • Indicator teams complete the first draft of their indicator reports
    • The team reconvenes about 9:00 a.m. for the scoring conversation, continuing through a working lunch
    • Once the scoring is completed, the team reaches consensus on its commendations and recommendations
    • The team debriefs the visit process and adjourns by 1:00 p.m.
    • The team co-leaders meet with the superintendent and the district coordinator to present a brief oral summary of the team's findings
